MAYPOLE DANCING IN MAY!

This pagan tradition began in villages in England and Wales in 1350, but in the 1700s the Church banned maypoles. Today, the tradition is celebrated on 1 May. Dancers hold coloured ribbons as they dance around a tree trunk (the maypole). Today, it's not a pagan festival, but it's good fun!
